Abstract:
This text examines the contours of the life of the female protagonist in Burn’s Milkman, set in Northern Ireland in the 1970s and how this character’s life is heavily conditioned by community gossip in the manner in which it exerts influence and control over her life and the wider lived experience of the community in question.
